Welcome to the Foreign Language Library Guide. This LibGuide is intended to support the coursework and research needs of students enrolled in a foreign language course or program.

PC and PD are the letters assigned by the Library of Congress classification system for books and other resources in foreign languages. 

The following letters are assigned to specific language subject areas.

• PC Romance languages
• PD Germanic and Scandinavian languages

Helpful Databases

Library Catalog

The Library Catalog is an index to the library’s books and audiovisual materials. You may search the catalog from any computer with Internet access. The online card catalog can be searched in a variety of ways most notability by TITLE, AUTHOR, SUBJECT, and KEYWORD.

Reference Books (located in the library’s reference section)

The library carries an extensive collection of reference titles related to foreign languages. Please visit the reference section or consult with a librarian for more information.

  A web portal for the fifteen Foreign Language Resource Centers (LRCs), which provides a searchable database to all of the LRC materials and resources.

• National Dual Language Consortium

  National organizations that focus on and provide research on language immersion, immersion programs and teaching.

• Essentials of Language Teaching 
  National Capital Language Resource Center (NCLRC) web site for language instructors in higher education. Includes a variety of principles, practices, goals, strategies and techniques for teaching a second language to university-level students
